Hola a todos! Since it will be a little bit of time until we are able to say " hola" in person, I will be posting daily lessons and homework (tarea) that you will be working on while you are at home. If an assignment is to be turned in for a grade, once you complete the tarea, you can attach the document to an email and email me your homework. If you write out the tarea by hand, you can scan the tarea and attach it to an email. If you are not able to attach your tarea to an email, please save your tarea for the time being and give it to me in person when we return or we will figure out an alternate method of getting your homework to me. 1. What are the three verbs listed in the chart?
2. What do the verbs mean in English?

YOU have learned. Do not use an outside source to write these sentences.
Read "Expressing direction and possession" on p. 118. Translate the sentences in bold in parts
1, 2, 3, and 4. Answer the following questions:

2. Write a short paragraph about your normal school day. Use at least 10 vocab words from
p. 132 (If you don't have your textbook, you should have these words on notecards or in your
cuaderno - notebook). The paragraph that you write is to be formed by words and grammar
that YOU know. I will not give any credit for sentences that you come up with from Google
Translate or any other outside source! Just try your best! It does not have to be perfect!

reportero or reportera and will write 5 questions to ask the new Mexican exchange student
about a school day in his or her hometown. Use what you know to write the questions (do not
use Google Translate or an outside source!). Just do your best!
2. Write 5 sentences describing the picture in Actividad 8, p. 111. Again, just try your best and use
what you already know to write the sentences.
3. Actividad 10, p. 113 - Write sentences with the cues given. Start with "Los alumnos," write the
correct form of the verb given, and then write the rest of the sentence. For example, number 1
would be "Los alumnos llegan a la escuela a las ocho."
4. Actividad 11, p. 113 - Answer the questions about yourself and a friend. Since the questions use
"ustedes" (you plural), you would answer with "nosotros" (we). Don't forget that your verb form
will change! For example, the answer for number 1 would be "Nosotros llegamos a la escuela a
las ocho menos cuarto."
5. Watch la misa católica en español (Catholic mass in Spanish)

Write down (in English) at least 5 differences and/or similarities that you notice between
English mass here in the U.S. and Spanish mass in Mexico City. Then write down at least 5

written in Spanish on the item and translate the Spanish into English (you can use
Google Translate if you need to). Once you have that done, submit your item to me by
emailing me your picture (if possible) and the Spanish and English translations.
I will compile all of your entries and we will vote on the best submission. All
eligible entries must be received by lunes, 30 de marzo. Remember...this still counts
as a homework assignment, so you have to complete the assignment in order to get a

The new "ar" verbs in Chapter 4 are as follows: llegar (to arrive), entrar (to enter),
estudiar (to study), enseñar (to teach), escuchar (to listen to), prestar (to lend), tomar
(to take), sacar (to take out), bailar (to dance), cantar (to sing), and preparar (to
prepare). Make flashcards for these new verbs by going to quizlet.com or writing
them on your own index cards (Spanish on one side, English on the other). You will
be using these flashcards to conjugate the verb forms, so leave room on the
Spanish side of the flashcard so that you have space to write the verb
conjugations. (Keep these flashcards for practice, future use, and to show me for
homework credit when we return to school).

with present tense verbs. Words and expressions listed under "El Pasado" should be used with
preterite verbs. The sentences that you write are to be YOUR sentences, formed by words and
grammar that YOU know. I will not give any credit for sentences that you come up with from
Google Translate or any other outside source!

have to change the subject and verb form when you answer the question. Also, make sure that
you determine whether the question is in the present or past tense!
2. Actividad 17, p. 283 - Change each "nosotros" in the paragraph to "yo" and change the verb
accordingly. Then translate the paragraph into English. (The paragraph should be written
once in Spanish using "yo" and once in English using the "I" version). Cuidado! Be careful! This
paragraph should be in the preterite (past) tense because it says "ayer" (yesterday).
3. Actividad 19, p. 284 - Write sentences with the cues given. Start with "Mis amigos y yo," write
the correct form of the verb given, and then write the rest of the sentence if necessary. For
example, number 1 would be "Mis amigos y yo bailamos." Remember "mis amigos y yo" is like
"nosotros."
4. Actividad 20, p. 284 - Fill in the blank with the correct verb form. You only have to write the
verb. You do not have to write out the whole paragraph. Cuidado! Be careful! The verb forms
are all in the preterite (past) tense.
